Ysleta ISD students and sponsors participated at the Texas Tech Health El Paso's second annual Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Week. This event celebrates Texas Tech Health El Paso's recognition as an HSI and offers a series of inspiring and educational activities.
A key event during HSI Week was High School Outreach Day on Sept. 17. Nearly 70 Ysleta ISD students enrolled in health professions programs, along with their sponsors, joined a total of 300 students and 22 sponsors from across El Paso County. On this day, students benefited from valuable insights and opportunities in the medical field.
On Friday, Sept. 20, HSI Week events will conclude with a keynote speech from White House Commissioner and Del Valle HS graduate Dr. Cristobal Rodriguez, who will discuss the importance of Borderland HSIs in supporting regional economies and addressing healthcare shortages. Dr. Rodriguez is a distinguished member of the President’s Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics.
This celebration of HSI Week reflects continuous efforts to enhance educational and professional opportunities for Hispanic students and emphasizes the critical role HSIs play in shaping the future of our communities.
