Mahrla Manning is a proud 1984 graduate of Bel Air High School and a 1989 graduate of UTEP, where she earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. Her professional journey began at White Sands Missile Range, where she worked from 1989 to 1993. Her passion for music led her to serve as the Pipe Band Director from 1999 to 2001, and for over 20 years, she has been a dedicated consultant for the Bel Air Bagpipe Band.
In her current role, she teaches music at St. Clement's Parish School and leads her own Pipe Band, which performs locally and regionally. Her Commitment to preserving the cherished tradition of the Bel Air High School Pipe Band is truly admirable. Although she is not part of the Big Red faculty, she generously contributes her time and expertise to the band.
Ms. Manning played a pivotal role in establishing and supporting the Celebration of Bagpipes event, ensuring its success in its inaugural year and in the second annual event in 2024. Her tireless dedication to the Bel Air Pipe Band is evident in her continuous involvement in various events. In 2024, she further cemented her legacy by helping to establish the first Bagpipe Band student scholarship under the John Estes Scholarship Fund.
