In preparation for the upcoming school year, the Ysleta Independent School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Valerie Hairston as the new principal of Del Valle High School, effective July 8.
Hairston, who comes to Ysleta ISD after having worked most recently as principal at Rafael Hernando III Middle School, began her career in education in 2005 as a science teacher at Ysleta High School. She went on to serve as a teacher, coach, and coordinator at Del Valle High School for nine years, then worked as an assistant principal and principal at a neighboring district.
Hairston holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and a master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University.
