Bel Air High School student Orlando Baca is set to begin his senior year in the 2024-2025 school year with an impressive list of accomplishments. Among his notable achievements, Orlando has earned a 1 rating at the UIL State Competition in Piano Solo for two consecutive years at the University of Texas at Austin. His performances included Frédéric Chopin's Waltz Op. 70, No. 2 in 2023 and Waltz in C Sharp Minor, Op. 64, No. 2 in 2024.
Orlando's dedication to piano began in 2010 under the guidance of Bel Air alumna Mrs. Lydia Boureslan. He now continues his studies with Ms. Stephanie Lozano, the current piano teacher at Bel Air. Additionally, he is a proud member of the National Fraternity of Student Musicians.
Beyond his musical pursuits, Orlando is actively involved in other school organizations. He is a member of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and has been elected President of the Bel Air High School National Honor Society for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. His diverse interests and leadership roles underscore his commitment to excellence both in and out of the classroom.
Orlando’s journey to piano has been marked by dedication and continuous improvement, showcasing his talent and hard work on prestigious platforms. His involvement in HOSA and his election as President of the National Honor Society highlight his leadership and commitment to the school community.
